Preserving Indonesia's Heritage of Botanical Natural Dyes   

At Kayame, we are committed to sustainability through our use of natural dyes, which generate zero waste compared to synthetic dyeing processes. Leaves & bark are easy to extract, they are harvested several times (trees are not killed), the leaf waste is processed into compost to fertilize the soil (closed loop process) & leftover water is filtered by enceng gondok plants before flowing into the river. All of these raw materials are collected from smaller farmers in the village of Tejakula.

We are passionate about preserving Indonesia's cultural heritage and biodiversity. Using traditional techniques, we make our natural dyes from local Indonesian botanicals, such as indigo and mango leaves, seeds, wood and bark. Each garment we create embodies authentic, artisanal craftsmanship, aiming to evoke lasting memories and empower individuals, communities, and traditions.
